Vintage 1920’s 77 Poker Chip Miniature Travel Set Leather Case Bakelite Clay Plastic. Beautifully preserved three color miniature travel poker chip set in a folding leather travel case. No maker’s mark on the case or chips, we dated this set to the 1920’s or 1930’s in line with the rest of the estate finds. The leather case shows substantial wear and delamination especially at the edges and corners, please review all the detail images. The case interior also shows some scuffs and wear, typical of age and use. The chips are in fine vintage shape, there are no cracked chips. All the chips show wear, scuffs and scratches from the many decades of gameplay. The color on the cobalt blue and fire red chips remains vibrant! As we place some of our items with film and television period productions (who value authentic patina, distress and age) we have left this poker set in the original, as-found condition. The chips and case could use a thorough cleaning if they are to be used and displayed in the home. The chips seem to be plastic as they don’t have the feel and weight of clay. We used a few methods to test for bakelite and could not reach a consensus. There are 39 cream chips, 25 red chips and 13 blue chips for a grand total of 77 chips. Cased Poker Set Cards Pinochle Bakelite and Clay Chips. This set is really interesting. Both card decks are full Pinochle sets. The blur deck has a bunch of extra 9s from an unrelated deck. All of the clay chips are those with crowns. I BELIEVE the others are bakelite. I also think that therr is a thin layer of leather that has been affixed to the wooden box that has the lovely animal picture on top. The box does reveal a decent amount of scuffs and wear as do chips and cards, but nothing too bad, just have a look at all photos please. I coint somewhere between 250-260 total chips. There are “approximately” just in case I counted wrong… LOL the following included in this lot. 125 IVORY color Clay Chips. 73 RED color Clay Chips. 67 BLUE color Clay Chips. 143 Red paper chips with imprint. 71 WHITE paper chips with imprint. QUALITY LEATHER STITCHED and handled box. This does have a lock on this box but no key nor does it close shut. Because the bottom of the lock has a push up mechanism that may be able to be adjusted.
