Serious card players prefer real clay chips because they stack solid, have a pleasant earthen-material texture, and feature a fantastic sound upon hitting the pot. This is a 502-piece set of vintage, compression-molded, clay poker chips. You will receive the exact chips shown in the photos. ASM/CPCs are easily distinguished by the brass flakes used to add weight to the chips, clearly visible in the photos. This is a near-mint set of poker chips. These chips appear to have sat in storage for many years, with. Greenish-black oxidization to the brass flakes along the chip edge visible on both the white and yellow chips. The chips in this set have square edges; so much so they are difficult to shuffle, which is typical of new ASM chips. Ot stamps are clearly visible and in excellent condition. These chips stack very well, better than most pre-1990s clays, but not quite as well as a new, modern CPC or Paulson. These feature a more vintage-style sound that is similar, but not quite identical, to most older 8g clays. That said, ASMs leave most vintage clays in the dust as they enjoy a chalky echo end note to their sound like a Paulson does. Compared to a Paulson, the ASMs echo is higher pitched. The chips are shown with, and will arrive in, their original 500-capacity case. This is a fully playable set of vintage clay poker chips. This set is best suited for cash games. Probably 1990sthese chips have brass flakes for weight, which is an identifier of ASM/CPC chips. These chips dont quite have the Velcro-like friction between chips that ASM/CPC chips have had since at least the mid-2000s, so Im guessing these are early ASMs from the 1990s. Around 9 grams (I forgot to weigh these before packing; brass-weighted ASMs weigh between 8.8g to 9.2g). Overall condition: Slightly Used (SU), though most chips in the set lean towards New (N) condition. A quick glance finds these chips in near-perfect condition, except for a few that are chipped on the edge (maybe 3-5 chips), a white chip with a negligible smear of ink on the chip face, and some chips with very minor face wear. Otherwise, these chips do not appear to have seen much, if any, play or use. Cross hatching is present and in excellent condition. Friction between chips is very good, but not quite the outstanding friction/stacking one would expect from a new, modern Paulson or CPC. Chips have a very grippy feel, are square-edged, and are hard to shuffle. Barrels of 20 effortlessly push into the middle. These chips should easily stack 100 high, probably 200+ high, on a solid, flat surface. In addition to the chips, you will also receive the following items shown in the photos.
